Chamisa clashes with Mahere

The once thriving partnership between Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa and that party’s national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere has reportedly taken a sharp downturn, resulting in Mahere's surprising removal from her post.

The move shocked many as Mahere was replaced by the leader of the now-defunct Tajamuka group, Promise Mkwananzi.

Insiders closely associated with the CCC leadership reveal that the rift stemmed from disagreements over the strategic approach to the recently concluded 2023 elections.

An anonymous source, intimately familiar with the internal dynamics, remarked that, "The tension reached its zenith after a heated exchange between Chamisa and Mahere. Their differences on the electoral strategy for 2023 were irreconcilable."

The source further hinted at Mahere's precarious standing within the CCC leadership.

"Mahere's future in CCC seems to be hanging by a thread. There's a swirling rumour that Chamisa might be looking to cast her into the political wilderness," the insider revealed.

Adding another dimension to this political drama, Edith Mushore, a renowned political analyst, weighed in on the situation.

"Mahere's rapid ascent and subsequent demotion might have less to do with Chamisa and more to do with other senior CCC members. She has always been viewed with suspicion, considered a 'mafikizolo' within CCC circles, with alleged ties to ZANU PF," Mushore opined.

Mushore added that Mahere's appointment as the national spokesperson was hailed by many as a progressive move by Chamisa, signalling the inclusion of young, dynamic leaders within the party's ranks.

“Her sudden demotion now raises questions about internal power dynamics and the future trajectory of the CCC,”added Mushore.

While the actual reasons behind the reported rift between Chamisa and Mahere might never be wholly unveiled to the public, it is evident that the undercurrents within the CCC are shifting.

As the dust settles post-2023 elections, one can only speculate about the reshaping and recalibration happening within CCC.
