Manicaland Province, a region known for its unwavering support for the ruling party, once again welcomes the dominant Zanu PF Party for its provincial Presidential Star Rally today.
Following the national campaign launch at Mutema Secondary in Chipinge, the province is expected to put on full display its mobilization power, in line with the momentum seen across Zimbabwe's other provinces.
Zanu PF's extensive developmental works throughout the region, ensuring no area or individual is left behind, have essentially become the Party's living manifesto.
Between 2018 and 2022, every sector of Manicaland Province, under the Zanu PF Government, has reaped the rewards of numerous successful projects that have enhanced residents' quality of life.
A prime example of the Government's proactive approach was the establishment of the Verify Medical and Industrial Gases plants at Feruka, an initiative birthed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. These plants, inaugurated by President Mnangagwa in 2021 and 2022, have been crucial in producing oxygen, a part of which was even donated or exported to neighboring countries like Mozambique and Botswana.
Adding to this, Verify Engineering (Pvt) Ltd established a solar energy plant, not only powering the gas plants but also contributing excess electricity to the national grid.
Manicaland's health sector has flourished with the construction of 22 new clinics, the digitization of 14 health centers, establishment of nine pharmaceutical stores, and renovation of three clinics.
Complementing these achievements, the Zimbabwe National Industrial Development Policy (2019-2023) aims to modernize and stimulate investment and job creation. This has revitalized Manicaland's manufacturing sector with companies like Mega Market Wheat Milling and Willowton taking the lead.
In infrastructure, the Province witnessed significant advancements. The Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme improved trunk roads, bridges, and facilitated better transport.
Post Cyclone Idai, the Government, along with developmental partners, focused on restoring damaged infrastructure, ensuring smooth movement for goods and passengers.
Boasting an economy responsible for producing over 70% of Zimbabwe's diamonds, the province also takes pride in its agricultural contributions, from fruits like mangoes and litchis to tea and coffee.
Furthermore, prioritizing education and basic amenities, the province saw the refurbishment and construction of numerous classroom blocks, teachers' houses, and improved sanitation facilities. The government's investment in water projects, including drilling new boreholes and maintaining existing ones, signals its commitment to addressing climate change and meeting water demand.
Under Presidential initiatives, the province also saw the distribution of goats and chicks, emphasizing sustainable growth. Additionally, 175 schools were provided with internet connectivity, marking another leap in development.
Meanwhile, today's rally in Manicaland is set to be a testament to Zanu PF's continued commitment to progress and the unwavering support of its people.
