Factionalism continues to show its ugly head in the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) as that party’s stalwarts bemoan the combination of Nelson Chamisa, Fadzai Mahere and Gift Ostallos Siziba.
Chamisa has of late been under fire for his alleged dictatorial tendencies, characterised by his recent motives to handpick candidates of his choice to represent that party at the 2023 Harmonized General Elections.
However, as the polls inch closer, the party’s old guard is reportedly irked by Chamisa’s blinkered approach to consider only the guidance and advice of the party’s Spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere and her deputy, Gift Ostallos Siziba.
A highly placed source at that party confided that the young turks although energetic, lacked the skills that come with experience and thus disconnected from the realities of politics.
“Mahere and Siziba identify with the youth or the young generation, but that is not enough. Politics has many facets which need mature dovetailing for a party as ambitious as CCC.
“For instance, even some of you members of the media have raised numerous concerns over Siziba, bemoaning his cockiness. Journalists snubbed him at the recent press conference resorting to making direct calls to Chamisa himself and other leaders for clarity on certain issues. It clearly shows something is amiss,” said the source.
There has been deafening silence from a number of CCC leaders such as Professor Welshman Ncube and Dr Thokozani Khupe. The pair is reportedly mobilizing original Ndebeles to represent that party ahead of Chamisa’s pronouncements over same. Chamisa is reported as having counter deployed Thabitha Khumalo to douse Khupe and Ncube by rallying that party’s stakeholders against them.
