The Civil Registry Department (CRD) has begun its voter registration blitz today in all the provinces around Zimbabwe.
In a statement today, the CRD stated that the exercise would ensure that citizens are able to access national identity documents.
“This programme is meant to provide citizens with an opportunity to obtain national identity documents which will enable them to register as voters in the upcoming 2023 Harmonized General Elections,” stated the Civil Registry Department.
According to the department, the exercise was targeting those who attained eighteen years of age intending to register as voters, those who lost their identity documents and are eligible to register as voters and those who are eighteen years and above who require both birth certificates and national identity documents.
The mobile registration exercise will end on 21 March 2023 and is being conducted in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Mobile Biometric Voter Registration Blitz.
Mobile teams have been deployed across the country to augment the existing static registry offices.
The Civil Registry Department has informed members of the public that the operating hours as from Monday to Friday would be 0700 hours to 1900 hours whilst on Saturdays and Sundays it would be from 0700 hours to 1700 hours.
