Government has announced its intention to award outstanding citizens with the Robert Gabriel Mugabe Commendation Awards for service in Human Capital Development.

This was revealed by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda through a press release.

“The Government intends to award deserving Zimbabwean Citizens…  The individuals should be luminaries who have distinguished themselves through outstanding, transformative service in human capital development that has opened up and achieved growth in new economic sectors while ensuring inclusivity,” read the statement.

Inviting nominees from eligible people, Dr Sibanda accentuated the need for a justification of why the individual deserves an award.

“Note that each nomination should be accompanied by a justification in the form of a brief detailed profile on the achievements for which the individual is deemed deserving of this special recognition and national honour.” Sibanda said.

These awards present Government with an opportunity to immortalize the memory of the late former president Robert Mugabe and to acknowledge some of the excellent philanthropic work done by fellow citizens.  Some citizens have started businesses that have participated in the reduction of poverty through employment creation at the same time contributing toward the GDP of our nation.
