Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Monica Mavhunga, has said that Kanyemba, an area in Mashonaland Central province, has the potential to develop and become Africa’s own version of Dubai.
Giving her welcome remarks at the ongoing ZANU PF’s 19th National People Conference in Bindura yesterday, Minister Mavhunga said the strategic location of Kanyemba and developments happening in that area could soon transform the remote area into a tourist attraction.
“As a tourist town, Kanyemba has the potential to be the Dubai of Africa. It unites three countries (Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique) as one and this creates a dream of constructing a wide and extensive bridge,” said Minister Mavhunga.
The Minister thanked President Mnangagwa for the policy of devolution that has seen immense development happening in the eight districts of Mashonaland Central province. She said it was because of devolution that mines such as Shamva and Eureka Gold Mines, that were dormant for a long time, were now operational.
Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa commended Mashonaland Central province for consistently and overwhelmingly always voting for ZANU PF and said the Party recognises this level of patriotism.
“The Province is a stronghold of our revolutionary Party. The people of Mashonaland Central have defended their motherland by consistently and resoundingly voting for ZANU PF. The Party recognises this loyalty and patriotism. Tinokutendayi Mhuri ye Mashonaland Central,” said the President.
The conference will proceed today with delegates participating in various thematic committees. The outcomes and resolutions of the thematic tcommittees is expected to be tabled and endorsed later today.
