The Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr John Mangwiro has assured the nation that his Ministry is committed to a reliable and universal health coverage, a development which is in line with the Government`s Vision 2030.
Dr Mangwiro said this today during the official opening of a four-day workshop in Mutare, where discussions on the 2021-2025 National Health Strategy are going to be made.
In his opening remarks, Dr Mangwiro said Government was “poised to ensure universal health coverage and major reforms were inevitable.”
In relation to that, the Ministry of Health earlier tweeted that, ten strategic focus areas have been identified in the country`s move to an upper middle income economy by 2030.
“To this end, ten strategic focus areas have been identified in relation to the desire to achieve Vision 2030 and accelerate the attainment of Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs).
“Additionally, a Health Coordination Framework has been developed to steer intra-ministerial, inter-sectorial, Health Development Partner and private sector collaboration.
“The Framework will be implemented along with the restructuring and reform process,” it posted.
The Ministry of Health is ensuring that the health sector is improved and requires medical practitioners who are also willing to work with the Government to make the sector efficient.
Meanwhile, Government has committed ZWL$50 million towards the construction of Lupane Provincial Hospital, the first Matabeleland North referral health institution. The referral health institution will soon be available and reduce travelling costs to Bulawayo for those seeking medical treatment.
