I have no links with CIO-Masotsha

The suspended MDC Alliance Provincial Woman’s Assembly Chairperson, Tendai Masotsha, has maintained that she has no links with the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and accused that party’s national chairperson Tabitha Khumalo of spreading falsehoods in a bid to tarnish her image.

Masotsha is being accused by her party of having links with the CIO and also playing a role in the alleged abduction of Tawanda Muchehiwa in July this year.

However, Masotsha confided in this publication that claims of her being in the MDC Alliance to spy for the CIO are fake and baseless.

“This issue has traumatized me. I have worked so hard for the party but the reward I get is being framed that I am a CIO agent. The most painful thing is that these falsehoods are being spread by someone I see as a mother in the party. It’s now almost three months after I have been falsely accused of playing a role in the (alleged) abduction of Muchehiwa but the party is still to finalise its investigations.

“I know that after the investigations, my name will be cleared because I had nothing to do with what happened to Muchehiwa and I also have no links, either public or private, with the CIO,” said Masotsha.

Masotsha added that people like Khumalo were threatened by her presence in the party and they were fabricating stories so that she could be expelled from the MDC Alliance formation.

“It’s not a secret that Tabitha (Khumalo) hates me. I think she is threatened by my presence in the party and she has resorted to fabricating stories so that I can be expelled from the party,” added Masotsha.

A source close to Masotsha said Muchehiwa came to apologise to Masotsha for bringing her name into disrepute.

“Muchehiwa visited Masotsha and apologised to her for bringing her name into disrepute. He told Masotsha that he never said that she played a part in his (alleged) abduction. Muchehiwa and Masotsha have already made peace with each other,” said the source.

The MDC Alliance had promised to release the outcome of the investigations of Masotsha’s alleged involvement into Muchehiwa’s alleged abduction within 48 hours, but several months later, the report on the probe is yet to be made public.
