ZANU PF has dismissed as false and misleading a fake letter circulating on various social media platforms claiming that the party’s youths in Mashonaland East Province have requested that the late socialite and businessman Genius Kadungure, also known as Ginimbi, be conferred a hero status.

In a statement, ZANU PF Provincial Youth League Chairperson, Cde Kelvin Mutsvairo, said the fake letter is meant to mislead the Zimbabwean masses.

“There is a fake article which is confusing people on social media, purportedly issued by the Mashonaland East ZANU PF Youth League regarding the conferment of hero status to the late Genius Kadungure who passed on yesterday.

“Please note that this fake article is meant to mislead the Zimbabwean masses. Be guided accordingly and Mashonaland East Youth League distances and dismiss it with the contempt it so deserves,” said Cde Mutsvairo in a statement.

Cde Mutsvairo conveyed a condolence message to the Kadungure family on the passing on of their son.

“We are saddened by the tragic and horrific death of the well-known prominent business man, Mr Genius Kadungure. May his soul rest in peace. Our condolences to the family and the nation at large,” said Cde Mutsvairo.

Yesterday, social media was awash with the fake letter insinuating that the ZANU PF Youth League in Mashonaland East convened an extraordinary meeting and recommended that the late Kadungure be conferred hero status.

Kadungure died yesterday morning along Liberation Legacy Way (Borrowdale road) when his car collided with a Honda Fit and burst into flames.
