Sikhala drum up activists to back Biti

MDC Alliance vice chairperson, Job Sikhala is reported to be in the process of mobilising activists to rally behind Tendai Biti (MDC-A vice president), in his presidential bid for 2023, as the plot to elbow reluctant Chamisa thickens.

According to an inside source, close to the party presidium, Sikhala, was mobilising political activists who share the same vision with him and Biti, that of taking the MDC party forward, while blaming Chamisa for ‘laying low.’

“So far we have identified a number of activists who fall under this preferred category and Hopewell Chin’ono is one of them, he also feels that Chamisa has been given ample time to prove himself yet chooses to cow away at the possibility of persecution,” said the source.

To cement these claims, Sikhala’s twitter handle has since started pouring solidarity messages on Chin’ono arrest, knowing fully well that he violated his bail conditions on misuse of social media.

As if that was not enough, Sikhala also went further to call for a press conference “in full strength solidarity with our arrested colleague Hopewell Chin’ono on fresh charges,” said Sikhala.

“This stance is meant to prove to Chin’ono and other activists that they have the duo’s (Biti and Sikhala) full support, if they commit to drum up support for Biti to take up presidency of MDC A in its next elective congress. It is further rumoured that Biti is even willing to represent Chn’ono in court,” added the source.

As if selling his crooked association with Chin’ono out, yesterday Sikhala posted a tweet that, “Getting sad reports that my friend Hopewell has been arrested. I had a long tele conversation with him, yesterday…”

Sadly for Chamisa, the MDC party which has been on the brink of implosion since Thokozani Khupe won the case as the rightful leader of MDC-T, seems to be getting worse as these recent shenanigans certainly place gullible Chamisa on tight ropes.

Biti has been on record blaming Chamisa for allowing victory to elude the party in 2018, as he and other members felt that the MDC had won the elections. Since then, supporters have either been aligning themselves with naive Chamisa or the calculative Biti, who has since been reported to have created parallel structures in the party ahead of 2023.
