In a development that will boost the efficiency and effectiveness of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), the anti-graft body has set up a WhatsApp line, where citizens can report corruption cases.
ZACC is already on Twitter, using @ZACConline Twitter handle, where it updates people on corruption cases under investigation.
Posting on their Twitter handle yesterday, ZACC gave their WhatsApp number as 0719529483 and urged citizens to play a part in the fight against corruption, which has contributed to the collapse of the country's economy.
“Good news! We are excited that ZACC now has a WhatsApp line. Let’s report all incidences of corruption where it is happening, who is doing it and how they are doing it. Let's all play a part in the fight against corruption," tweeted ZACC.
The anti-graft body has since implored Government to protect whistleblowers from victimization as they assist the institution in fighting corruption.
A whistleblower is a person who could be an employee of a company, or a government agency, disclosing information to the public or some higher authority about any wrong doing, which could be in form of fraud or corruption.
The Second Republic of Zimbabwe set up the anti-corruption drive, as one of its major anchors of the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP), critical for giving vision 2030, a strong plinth to stand on.
ZACC is walking the talk on the arrest of corrupt bigwigs and has vowed to go after top individuals in the country regardless of their political or economic status. Former cabinet Minister Prisca Mupfumira was their first arrest followed by several other bigwigs.
Recently, ZACC scored a conviction, when Director of Petrol Zim line Pvt Ltd Cathrine Katsande was convicted on seven counts of fraud involving US$1 748 387.80 for authorizing payments to Kaltrade Pvt Ltd for goods not supplied.
