Gutu residents have hailed His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the Gutu Mission Hospital upgrade which has seen Government constructing a mortuary and also expanding the hospital wards which will go a long way in enhancing service provision.
A hospital staff member who spoke to The Harare Post revealed that the hospital was operating without a mortuary and this development is going to address the challenges of having to send bodies to Masvingo Hospital before collection for burial.
"This hospital was operating without a mortuary making it difficult to provide adequate service delivery to residents. The mortuary has a carrying capacity of a dozen bodies and it’s going to assist relatives of the deceased who had to seek mortuary services in Masvingo.
"The hospital is also going through an expansion of wards which is set to ease patient congestion at the hospital." She said.
A resident, Amos Bhunu, who spoke to the publication ahead of the ground breaking ceremony to be presided over by President Mnangagwa, hailed the upgrade, applauding the President for prioritising service delivery to the people.
“This gesture by President Mnangagwa will go a long way in improving lives in the area, it is also evident that His Excellency, (President Mnangagwa) has our best interest at heart,” said Bhunu
President Mnangagwa officiated at the ground breaking ceremony and then led the national clean-up campaign at Gutu Mupandawana growth point before finishing his tour with an address at a rally at Matizha business centre.
