Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, which have already led to significant increases in trade and mutual collaboration.
The deepening of these ties was highlighted during celebrations marking the UAE’s 53rd National Day, held in Harare, on the 25th if November 2024.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, emphasized the significance of this partnership and expressed optimism about further strengthening ties.
“We strive to improve and increase trade, taking advantage of the excellent political and diplomatic relations between our two countries. Zimbabwe is considering the finalisation of the proposed foreign partnership to improve trade.
“Both countries have embraced economic diplomacy as a cornerstone of their relations, facilitating mutual growth and development. Zimbabwe has become an important exporter to the UAE, particularly of agricultural produce and minerals, while the
UAE continues to explore investment opportunities in Zimbabwe’s emerging markets,” said Minister Murwira.
UAE Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr Jassim Al Quassimi, underscored the importance of economic diplomacy as a driver of the growing partnership between the two nations.
“We are committed to exploring more prospects for cooperation, especially in education. We look forward to continuing our partnership and building an even brighter future for our people.
“Beyond trade, the partnership also prioritizes education and cultural exchange programs. Efforts to bolster cooperation in these areas are expected to enrich ties further and enhance people-to-people connections between the two nations,” Dr Al Quassimi stated.
The relationship between Zimbabwe and the UAE has blossomed over recent years, with the UAE becoming Zimbabwe’s second-largest trading partner. Cooperation spans multiple sectors, including trade, investment, education, culture, and tourism.
The celebrations served as a testament to the enduring partnership between Zimbabwe and the UAE, marked by mutual respect and shared goals. With both nations committed to fostering collaboration across diverse sectors, the future of this relationship looks promising.
As the two countries deepen their ties, the focus on mutual development, sustainable trade, and cultural exchange will undoubtedly pave the way for long-term benefits for their citizens.
