The Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology has been mandated by the Politburo to take a leading role in guiding Party members and inculcate into them, the right political orientation, the Harare Post can report.
The decision was unanimously made by the 337th Zanu PF Politburo Ordinary Session which met in Harare yesterday.
Spelling out some of the deliberations discussed in the Politburo, the party’s Secretary for Administration, Dr Obert Mpofu said the Politburo noted with grave concern that most cases that are putting the party in disrepute are hinged on personal ambitions.
He therefore revealed that, the meeting unanimously resolved that the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology take a leading role of imparting the necessary political orientation and rehabilitation of party cadres.
“The Politburo noted that most issues which put the party into disrepute are hinged on indiscipline to further personal ambitions and therefore, the meeting resolved to mandate the School of Ideology to act as a rehab centre for such cadres.
“The political orientation school is stretching its tentacles to the ward levels,” said Dr Mpofu.
The announcement was made following the decision to expel former Youth League National Political Commissar, Godfrey Tsenengamu whom the meeting resolved to expel from the party due to indiscipline and defying the resolution that he attends mandatory political orientation at the School of Ideology.
Dr Mpofu revealed that, the suspended Youth League Deputy Secretary, Lewis Matutu has started attending classes at the School of Ideology as directed by the previous Politburo meeting.
Zanu-PF started training its members the revolutionary ethos in 2016 and it was agreed that no party cadre will represent Zanu-PF in national elections without passing through the college.
Dr Mpofu said that deterioration of patriotism and understanding of the Zanu-PF ideology within some members has necessitated the decision taken by the meeting.
