Preparations for Independence Day celebrations have progressed in all the 10 Provinces, with Harare Province celebrations set to be held at Rufaro Stadium, the Harare Post can report.
Speaking during an Independence Day preparatory meeting held in Harare recently, Acting Provincial Development Coordinator, Catherine Kampilo said the Independence celebrations will be held under the theme, “Zimbabwe at 40: Defining a decade towards 2030,” which is in line with Government’s vision 2030.
Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is going to coordinate a parade and provide protocol ushers as well as the usual entertainment drills as it usually does, she said.
Kampilo also said the Zimbabwe National Parks and wildlife management is expected to donate an elephant and buffalos to feed those who shall be in attendance during the celebrations in Harare.
The Acting Provincial Development Coordinator also said the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development is going to cater for the budget of all the 10 provinces where similar celebrations are going to be conducted.
Meanwhile, the main event of the National Independence Day celebrations is going be held in Bulawayo for the first time in the history of the country. The New Dispensation came up with the move pursuant to the thrust of devolution that the Independence Day celebrations be held in other provinces and not to be confined to one province, Harare.
