Service delivery at the country’s public health institutions has improved immensely improved following a recent steady supply of drugs and equipment, the Harare Post can report.

The revelations were made by Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals Chief Executive Officer, Dr Maunganidze, during a tour of the medical facility by Team Harare of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Health and Child Care on 6 July 2019.

Maunganidze also remarked on the timeous boost for both public mental and provincial health institution through the handover of a consignment of medical equipment by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Maunganidze told the Committee that “basically the conditions of service for the medical practitioners here at Parirenyatwa have improved in the recent past weeks with most patients being attended within 15minutes. The pharmaceutical side of the institution has also been capacitated to dispense most of the basic medicines, which is okay as health practitioners are now equipped to mitigate on avoidable deaths.”

He added that the handing over of medical consignment by President Emmerson Mnangagwa will also go a long way in further improving health care delivery across the country’s public health institutions.

President Mnangagwa handed a consignment of infant incubators and resuscitators for the neonatal intensive care unit, multi-parameter monitors for adults and pediatrics, operating theatre tables, respiratory aid ventilator, and video endoscopy to name but a few of the machinery.

However, the parliamentarians noted with concern the need to improve on services for the mentally challenged patience as they also require specialized equipment to ensure that they are not hurt. The Committee will tour Marondera and Mutare General Hospitals on 18 and 19 July 2019 respectively.
