Yesterday`s press conference by MDC Harare youths to impose Nelson Chamisa as their party president has been heavily criticised by social media users who accuse the youth for lacking ideological clarity on basic tenets of democracy and that Chamisa is sacrificing them to achieve his own personal agenda.
Commenting on the matter MDC T Spokesperson Linda Masarira on her Twitter page posted, “The tragedy of being a leader with no clear ideological principles manifests itself in the so called generational consensus of youth who lack ideological clarity on the basic tenets of democracy. Rina Manyanga hariputirwi. Whither democracy in a so called democratic movement.”
Relatedly, Zanu PF youth league Deputy Secretary Lewis Matutu posted, “There seems to be leadership deficiency in MDC Alliance given the confusion that has surfaced towards their congress, they're always busy criticizing ZANU PF and it's leadership forgetting how disorganized, undemocratic and violent they are.”
Zanu PF National Secretary for Youth Affairs Pupurai Togarepi tweeted, Chamisa hama yangu ramba ma election ku Congress because wapera. Vapfana vari kuita ma presser ava don't trust them. Democracy iri pa zita re Party chete siyira democracy mapato mahombe vana Zanu PF otherwise gwako gwagugwa negugwe.”
Squabbles within the MDC are mounting as time ticks towards the party`s elective congress scheduled for October this year. The party`s National Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya has also been heavily criticised by some party members for his dictatorial utterances that the party does not expect Chamisa to be challenged at the congress.
Chibaya warned party members wishing to challenge Chamisa that they risked plunging themselves into what he termed political dustbin.
