The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has planned to embark on a countrywide tour to assess the state of the roads with a view to seeing areas that require urgent attention.

The tour will also be used to assess the progress they have made in rehabilitation of roads.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has emphasised his will and eager to revive the road networking system in the country and that Zinara will be capacitated to make sure that it upgrade roads to international standards.

Zinara has urged local authorities to properly use funds they are given appropriately. “We are here to give local councils maximum support to ensure that our roads are refurbished,” said a Zinara official.

Zinara has taken over the dualisation of the country’s busiest road; Betibridge-Chirundu highway.

Sources told the Harare Post that $60 million has been set aside for the dualisation of a stretch in-between Mvuma and Chivhu until the end of this year.

It is against this background that the Public Relations department at Zinara has planned to take the media around the country to showcase the progress on the projects embarked by the parastatal.
