Chimanimani East Legislator and Central Committee member, Joshua Kurt Sacco hosted victory celebrations to thank people who voted for Zanu PF in the July harmonised elections.

Addressing thousands of party supporters who came for the celebrations, at Tiya Primary school, in Ward 16, Sacco urged people in Chimanimani East to be geared for development.

He affirmed Government's commitment to fulfill promises made during the campaign period.

"This is not the time for name calling and looking for positions in the party but it is the time to develop our country and remain united," said the legislator.

Sacco reassured his constituency that he will spearhead developmental projects in schools, health sector as well as road rehabilitation.

"As you can testify, the road from Machongwe to Rusitu is currently being graveled as we are gathered here. We want action in Chimanimani," said Sacco.

"During my tenure, it will not be business as usual. In the Second Republic, we are talking of action. I will be at your service and will be a transparent Member of Parliament. We are going to build schools and clinics especially in new resettlement. We are also aimed at improving the road networks especially in Rusitu area," he said.

He said bananas in Rusitu should be transported to markets but the long term solution is to revive Rusitu Jam Canners in Ward 21.

Also present at the celebration ceremony were Chimanimani Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nehemiah Deure and the Ward 16 Councilor, Tendai Nyabanga who both promised close cooperation between council and the ruling party.

"Our mandate is to serve you. Council will not sit on developmental projects initiated by different wards," said Deure.

He assured party supporters that projects would not be looked based on political affiliation.

"Zanu PF is the ruling party and as Council, we stand guided by the instructions and developmental trajectory coming from the parent ministry," said Deure

 He said the good thing about Chimanimani was that it is controlled by Zanu PF councilors, which makes decision-making easier when getting instructions from Government.

"There is no conflict of interests, it will make my job easier,” said Deure.

Tendai Nyabanga assured supporters that he will be a listening councillor.

"I will be at your disposal, please let's work together in unity. We want to be accountable to you," she said.

The Zanu PF victory celebrations are expected to continue across wards in Chimanimani East Constituency.
