In an interview yesterday with this publication, Muchada, the leader of the band Mama Africa and the Afrofusers, expressed her commitment to her craft and called on fans to support her journey.
“I am in the music industry to stay. I’m dedicated to my art and I’m working hard to ensure my music resonates with people everywhere. I believe in the power of music to connect and inspire, and I need my fans to be with me every step of the way,” Muchada said.
Muchada, who is a qualified music teacher based in Harare, has already made a mark by previously working with prominent artists such as Agga Nyabinde, Bernard Betera, and Blessing Chimanga, among others.
She has also released several singles, including "Mutupo" and "Tirivamwe," and is currently in the studio working on her upcoming album.
“I have been fortunate to work with some amazing artists, and each collaboration has taught me something valuable. I’m really excited about my upcoming album. It’s a blend of everything I love about music—tradition, modernity, and a celebration of who we are as Africans,” Muchada shared.
Looking ahead, Muchada expressed her desire to collaborate with established female artists such as Selmor Mtukudzi and Feli Nandi, whom she admires as role models.
“Selmor and Feli are such powerful voices in our industry, and I look up to them. Collaborating with them would be a dream come true because they represent everything I aspire to be—strong, authentic, and deeply connected to our roots,” she said.
In addition to her vocal talents, Muchada is also a guitarist and mbira player, skills that add a unique depth to her music.
Her style is a celebration of African culture, and she aims to continue creating music that resonates both locally and internationally.
“My music is all about celebrating Africa—our stories, our rhythms, our spirit. I want to keep making good music that not only entertains but also connects people to the richness of our heritage. My dream is to see my music accepted and celebrated all over the world,” Muchada added.
With her dedication and vision, Muchada is poised to carve out a lasting presence in the music scene, bringing a fresh and authentic voice that bridges the gap between tradition and modernity.
As she continues her journey, Muchada remains focused on her goal of creating music that speaks to the heart of Africa and beyond.
