The Pfura Rural District Council (RDC) of Mt Darwin is fervently shaping a brighter future in line with national ambitions. Committed to realising President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Vision 2030, which aspires for Zimbabwe to achieve Upper Middle-Income Economy status by the decade's end, the council is making significant strides.
According to some residents in Mt Darwin, the Pfura RDC is diligently ensuring no place or person is left behind in its developmental pursuits.
The wind of progress and change blowing through Mt Darwin has its sails steered by the Chief Executive Officer, Stanslous Runyararo Nyachowe (pictured), and the esteemed Council Chairman, Mabasa Mutyambizi. Under their dynamic leadership, Mt Darwin is not just bracing itself for change, but is primed for unprecedented growth and robust development.
Residents have taken note and are vocal in their appreciation. In conversations with our reporters, many lauded the Pfura RDC's leadership for its forward-looking approach, particularly its emphasis on development projects that cater to the grassroots.
Memory Mandaza, a resident of Murenga village, spoke passionately, “If we are genuine in our assessments, we must acknowledge the flurry of developmental activities being championed by the council. I urge my fellow residents not to stand in the way of progress, but to support these commendable initiatives."
Edmore Mutyambizi, another resident, exuded confidence in the trajectory of Mt Darwin. “Seeing the strides, we have made and the direction in which we are headed, I am confident that Mt Darwin is on course to become one of the fastest-growing towns in Zimbabwe. The amount of effort being put into transforming our town is truly commendable.”
Lovemore Musonza, a jubilant new landowner at Northview Extension in Mt Darwin, expressed his gratitude for the council's transparent land allocation process.
"I paid for my residential stand back in 2017, and to finally hold the offer letter in my hand is a dream realised,” Musonza said.
Musonza mentioned certain individuals with hidden agendas attempting to thwart the council's efforts.
"It's essential that we all rally behind our council, ensuring that we don't stifle the growth and progress we are witnessing," added Musonza.
With its dedicated leaders, an engaged community, and a clear vision, Mt Darwin is indeed poised for a bright future. Only time will reveal the magnitude of its ascent, but the initial signs are nothing short of promising.
However, efforts to get a comment from Nyachowe and Mutyambizi were futile as their mobile phones were not reachable.
