Chamisa said the MDC was committed to resolve the national crisis through dialogue instead of demonstrations. He claimed that the economic challenges stemmed from legitimacy issues. According to impeccable sources, the West directed the MDC to do away with demos and go for dialogue with a view to pushing for a transitional Government. The transitional government, according to the West’s plan, would make it easier for the MDC to push for reforms from within.
However, Chamisa claimed that SADC had accepted their call to intervene in resolving the country’s alleged political crisis.
During the same meeting, members pleaded with Chamisa for a review of some the resolutions passed at their congress which was held last month.
“Members present were not happy with the resolution that forbids party members from taking illegal action against the party. We are a democratic party, therefore that resolution goes against the democratic principles that we believe in. It is within the democratic right of an aggrieved member to take any legal action,” said the source.
The source said members also wanted a review of the resolution that prescribes an automatic expulsion of all party members who supported independent. However, Chamisa shot down the proposal to review the resolution arguing that congress is supreme.
