The 18th ZANU PF Annual People’s Conference which is running under the theme, “Modernise, Mechanise and Grow the Economy Towards Vision 2030” is expected to come out with vibrant economic revival solutions that will turn around the fortunes of the country in the near future.
In order to come up with firm resolutions that contribute to economic development, ZANU PF members and supporters should remain united. If there is unity among party members and party leadership, all the deliberations that will take place at the conference will certainly be positive and contribute towards nation building. It is worth to note that a divided ruling party can spell doom for the economy, at a time when everyone will be looking to ZANU PF to bring solutions that revive the country’s economy.
While it is difficult to separate the politics of the country from the economic affairs, it is necessary for members of the ruling party to limit their time in dealing with political issues, but, main focus should be on economic development. Thus, this years’ ZANU PF conference is expected to come up with economic turnaround strategies that are anticipated to bring back bread and butter on the people`s tables.
As a people’s party, ZANU PF is already implementing a number of economic development projects meant to support different communities in all the country’s ten provinces. For instance, a number of people are benefitting from projects such as fish farming, gardening, chicken rearing, goat and cattle breeding. Such projects needs financial and resources support for them to be fully implemented. Thus, the conference should also concentrate on boosting such community projects as they immensely contribute to nation building. Supporting small communities is in a way fulfilling the pledges that were made during the 2018 campaigns.
The 2018 ZANU PF’s Manifesto and vision message focused on unity, fighting corruption, development, re-engagement and creation of jobs. By developing the economy, the ZANU PF Government will be creating employment for many local people. This will also be achieved through devolution, where people from the grassroots will be employed to develop their respective constituencies.
ZANU PF should be aware that the opposition parties have a keen interest to see all developments taking part within the ruling party such that any mistake which it might make could be used by the opposition as a weapon to campaign against it in 2023. In order to avoid that and continue winning elections in the coming years, the ruling party should make all efforts to fulfil its promises. All party members should come out of the annual people`s conference as rejuvenated and geared to fully implement developmental programmes so as to improve the living standards of the general populace.
ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said besides conversing on the issue of economic revival, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has also noted that corruption and greediness would not be tolerated, and such people should be brought before the courts if ever we are going to see our economic efforts bear fruit.
