Despite the negative publicity Zimbabwe used to have President Emmerson Mnangagwa is receiving a lot of admiration from investors across the globe ahead of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly, (UNGA). His glory train is certainly unstoppable given the theme of the assembly which affords him the forum to unpack and push for the values that would transform Zimbabwe to its glory days.
Famous of his trademark mantra, “Zimbabwe is open for business and re-engagement,” President Mnangagwa is set to make his key note address hinged on the theme 'Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies, armed to the teeth with strides Zimbabwe has made to better the lives of Zimbabweans and to make the country afford a middle-income economy by 2030.
The Summit comes at the backdrop of President Mnangagwa’s victory beating Nelson Chamisa, of MDC-Alliance during the July 30 harmonised elections and the ruling party amassing two thirds majority in Parliament. Despite the Constitutional court deciding the winner, President Mnangagwa had hinted that he would abide by the court ruling.
President Mnangagwa is likely to hammer home at the Summit, Peace and Re-engagement. He will showcase how as the Zimbabwe's Second Executive President, is pushing for re-engagement process and that Zimbabwe is open for business.
President Munangagwa's political foresight is reminiscent of his statement he made last year in November and he continues to live the talk after being inaugurated as President on 24 August this year.
The pioneer of the success story of Command Agriculture which has given birth to various siblings inclusive of Command Water Harvesting, Command Livestock and Command Fisheries among other developmental projects. President Mnangagwa is renowned for action.
The President is geared to change the economic and political fortunes of this great nation, Zimbabwe. He is expected to preach to the world that Zimbabwe is under new administration and has let bygones to be bygones.
