The High Court has forced the MDC to abandon its much-hyped demonstration which it was set to stage in Harare today following its ruling that the opposition party’s application was not urgent. This has seen the opposition party calling off the protest which the political outfit said was against the ongoing economic hardships.

Despite the High Court ruling this morning, which effectively upheld the prohibition order which the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issued late yesterday on the opposition party’s demonstration which it intended to stage today, some MDC members have proceeded to gather in Harare’s city centre confirming the police’s fear that the event would turn rowdy.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has revealed that it has evidence to prove that the MDC demonstrations slated for tomorrow will not be peaceful as the opposition party has been dropping catapults, knobkerries and stones at designated points in the Central Business District in the dead of the night.
