Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa, has called on Zimbabweans in the diaspora to rally behind President Mnangagwa’s vision for economic transformation and national development.

Speaking to the Zanu PF United Kingdom District Executive Council in London yesterday, Cde Mutsvangwa underscored the critical role that Zimbabweans abroad play in shaping the country’s growth and encouraged them to remain engaged in its progress.
Cde Mutsvangwa reaffirmed the ruling party’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made in the 2023 harmonised elections, emphasising that the Government remains steadfast in delivering on its economic and developmental pledges.
“The President’s intention is to build the country’s economy and fulfil his election manifesto, which led to Zanu PF’s victory in the 2023 harmonised elections,” he said.
He maintained that President Mnangagwa remains focused on national and regional development, undeterred by external attempts to undermine his administration.
Cde Mutsvangwa also highlighted the President’s regional diplomatic engagements, particularly his role as current Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
He pointed out that President Mnangagwa is working closely with East African Community (EAC) Chairperson, Kenyan President William Ruto, to mediate in the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“Our President is taking a leading role in addressing regional conflicts. His efforts in mediating peace in the eastern parts of the DRC show his commitment to regional stability, which is key for economic growth,” said Mutsvangwa.
Turning to Zimbabwe’s economic progress, Cde Mutsvangwa emphasised that President Mnangagwa’s administration has transformed the country’s economy since assuming office in 2017.
He pointed out that the Government had completed over 8 000 projects nationwide, with a strong focus on infrastructure development, industrial growth, and economic empowerment under Vision 2030, which aims to establish Zimbabwe as an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
He highlighted record-breaking wheat production as one of the key successes in the agricultural sector.
“Under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, Zimbabwe has made remarkable progress across key sectors. In agriculture, the country achieved a record wheat output, surpassing the previous high set in 1964—a milestone that bolsters food security and strengthens the agricultural sector,” he said.
Infrastructure development, he explained, has been another major focus, citing ongoing and completed projects such as the expansion of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, the construction of the New Parliament Building, major road rehabilitation projects, and increased power generation initiatives.
“Infrastructure development is at the heart of economic transformation. Our government has prioritised projects that modernise the nation and improve the lives of Zimbabweans,” he explained.
He also noted that the issuance of title deeds to farmers has been a significant step in empowering landowners by allowing them to use land as collateral for financing, unlocking new opportunities for agricultural expansion and investment.
As he encouraged Zimbabweans in the diaspora to actively support the country’s development, Cde Mutsvangwa stressed the importance of investing in key economic sectors.
“Zimbabweans abroad have a critical role to play in strengthening our economy. By investing in agriculture, infrastructure, and industry, the diaspora community can be a major force in the country’s transformation,” he said.
He reassured Zimbabweans that President Mnangagwa’s administration remains committed to fostering a self-sufficient and prosperous Zimbabwe, adding that unity among local citizens, the diaspora community and the Government is key to unlocking the country’s full economic potential.
