The SADC Youth Parliament has officially opened applications for youth leaders, stakeholders, and advocates to participate in its Standing Committees ahead of the 3rd SADC Youth Parliament. The virtual consultations will take place from March 3rd to March 11th, 2025, leading up to the first physical sitting in South Africa at the end of March.

The 2025 session will be held under the theme “Empowering Youth for Sustainable Development and Inclusive Governance in the SADC Region.” Organisers say the discussions will offer young people and other stakeholders an opportunity to shape policy recommendations for the region.
“The virtual sessions will guide the deliberations of the 1st Physical Sitting of the SADC Youth Parliament in South Africa at the end of March 2025, providing a crucial opportunity for young leaders and various stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, influence policies, and contribute to decision-making processes within the SADC region,” the statement read.
The Parliament is seeking applications for several Standing Committees, including Business and Entrepreneurship, Climate Change, Governance, Health, Gender Rights, Education, and Pan-Africanism.
Applications are open to individuals, organisations, and institutions from SADC member states, including youth aged 18 to 35, civil society organisations (CSOs), academic institutions, private sector entities, and government agencies.
Interested candidates must submit their applications through a designated Google application form, outlining their background, experience, and motivation for joining a specific Standing Committee.
“Please ensure your submission reflects your commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development,” the statement stated.
The deadline for applications is February 28, 2025, and shortlisted candidates will be notified for further steps.
