Bikita Minerals has built a state-of-the-art clinic for the Marozva community as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. The modern healthcare facility was officially opened recently, marking a major step in improving health services for local residents.
The new clinic, equipped with modern medical equipment, will serve as a critical resource for the community, providing access to essential healthcare services.
Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, praised Bikita Minerals for its contribution to the healthcare sector, highlighting its alignment with the government’s broader goals under the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
“We are gathered here to witness one of the important strides towards achieving NDS1’s goal of improving primary and secondary healthcare, as well as environmental service delivery. The clinic is a key development in enhancing access to quality healthcare in rural areas, directly supporting the government’s vision for universal health coverage,” said Minister Chadzamira.
Bikita Minerals Managing Director, Xuedong Gong, said the company was committed to improving the community’s well-being, which he said incorporated economic success as well as social and environmental stewardship.
“As a company, we believe that the well-being of the community we serve is crucial to our daily operations,” said Xuedong.
Chief Marozva, born Ishmael Mudhe, also expressed his gratitude for the clinic, noting that it would be a major asset to the community.
"The clinic will assist individuals within our community to access good healthcare, which will also help improve productivity, even at the mine. The facility will bring much-needed medical care closer to home for residents,” Chief Marozva said.
Local resident Thelma Matema expressed appreciation for the clinic, particularly in addressing emergency healthcare needs.
“This is a good development for our community, especially during emergencies. Pregnant women now have a maternity home close by, and we appreciate that,” said Matema.
The clinic’s construction and provision of modern medical equipment are expected to have a positive impact on the health and well-being of the Marozva community.
It will improve access to vital services such as maternity care, emergency treatment, and general health services, all of which are crucial for the area’s development.
By investing in healthcare infrastructure, the company is helping to foster a healthier and more productive workforce while also contributing to the development goals of the country.
