Carlos Ncube (26), from Makwika Village, in Hwange, was hauled before the Hwange Magistrates' Court facing two counts of unlawful entry and theft.

On the night of September 20, 2024, Ncube broke into two homes and a tuck shop, in his village, stealing food and beverages.

Ncube first targeted the home of the first complainant, breaking into the kitchen and stealing two silver pots, one filled with sadza and the other with beans. The following morning, the complainant discovered her pots were missing and followed Ncube’s shoe prints, which led directly to his home.

On the same night, Ncube also broke into a tuck shop owned by a second complainant in the same village. He made off with 12 Pepsi drinks (500ml each), a 2-litre fizzy drink, and a 500ml Pfuko Maheu. The total value of the stolen goods amounted to ZWG514.17.

Fortunately, all the stolen items were recovered after a police report was filed, leading to Ncube’s arrest.

Ncube was found guilty of the charges, and will be sentenced tomorrow.
