Corp24 has donated 400 Tramadol injections, valued at US$800, to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) in a bid to improve pain management for patients undergoing major surgeries, including orthopaedic operations.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care announced the donation yesterday, highlighting its significance in enhancing patient care.
Deputy Minister of Health, Sleiman Timios Kwidini, praised the private sector’s involvement in healthcare, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing the challenges faced by public hospitals.
"Donations like this are critical in overcoming the shortages our hospitals face. Public-private partnerships are essential for improving healthcare delivery, and we encourage more companies to contribute to this cause," Deputy Minister Kwidini stated.
During the handover ceremony, UBH’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Narcisse Dzvanga, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its impact on the hospital’s ability to provide essential post-operative care.
"This contribution from Corp24 will significantly enhance our capacity to manage pain for patients recovering from surgery. Effective pain management is crucial to patient recovery, and having access to Tramadol will greatly assist us in this endeavour," Dr Dzvanga said.
Dr Dzvanga also highlighted the ongoing challenges UBH faces in securing essential medical supplies, underscoring the importance of such contributions to the hospital's operations.
"We have been grappling with consistent shortages of critical medications, including painkillers, and this donation will go a long way in helping us improve patient care," he added.
Corp24’s Chief Executive Officer, Tapiwa Chiyangwa, reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector.
"At Corp24, we are dedicated to strengthening public health institutions by providing vital medical supplies. This donation of Tramadol injections is part of our ongoing efforts to support the healthcare system," Chiyangwa said.
