President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed his commitment to constitutionalism and urged all Zanu PF members to uphold the constitution's principles.
During his address at the Zanu PF National Youth Assembly in Harare yesterday, the President emphasized the importance of loyalty to the Party and its leadership, highlighting his own adherence to constitutional values.
"We are members of the Party first before we assume leadership positions. Therefore, you are reminded that every member must be loyal to the Party and its leadership. You must observe, respect, and abide by the constitution, policies, rules, and regulations of the Party," said President Mnangagwa.
The President underscored that the Second Republic is firmly grounded on upholding constitutionalism.
He urged the youth to be mindful of this as they work on policies to enhance youth development and expand Party membership.
"As you gather here to formulate policies that are aimed at scaling up youth development and ensuring Party membership growth, be mindful that the Second Republic is proudly premised on upholding constitutionalism. As a League, you must be guided by the Vision, Mission, Aims and Objectives, Values, and Duties of all members as clearly outlined in the Party Constitution. Ngatichengetedzei ‘Gwara re Musangano’," he stated.
Speaking at the same event, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga emphasized the necessity of discipline among the youth, urging them to actively engage in developmental matters to help achieve national aspirations.
"As the vanguard of the ruling party, I urge you to remain disciplined and actively participate in mainstream developmental matters and help us achieve our aspirations," Vice President Chiwenga said.
Vice President Kembo Mohadi echoed these sentiments, stressing the need for youth to exercise discipline and avoid drug and substance abuse.
"The youth play an important role in shaping the country. The youth must be patriotic, united, and refrain from drug and substance abuse," said Vice President Mohadi.
The National Youth League Assembly meeting was held under the theme "One Voice, One Vision: Creating a Conducive Environment for Youth Development and Empowerment towards Vision 2030."
The assembly saw attendance from Vice Presidents, Cde Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi, National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, and other senior ruling Party officials.
