The country is setting the stage for the much anticipated 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), slated to take place from April 23 to 27 in Bulawayo.
This year's event, marking the 64th edition of the ZITF, is themed “Entrepreneurship: The Catalyst for Industrialization and Trade,” highlighting the pivotal role of entrepreneurial innovation in driving industrial and trade advancements.
During a post-Cabinet briefing yesterday, the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere, provided an update on the event's preparations.
“Preparations for the 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) are on track, with infrastructure refurbishment already underway and expected to be completed by April 20, 2024. The 64th Edition Fair, will run under the theme Innovation: The Catalyst for Industrialization and Trade,” Minister Muswere shared.
The Minister informed that the ZITF has registered 466 direct exhibitors, including 65 first-timers, occupying 96 percent, or 47 425 square metres, of the available space.
An impressive roster of 25 international exhibitors from 21 countries, including major global players and emerging markets, has reportedly confirmed attendance, promising a diverse and rich exhibition experience across various sectors.
The Minister said that the event would be packed with engaging activities, starting with the ZITF Welcome Cocktail and the ZITF International Business Conference on April 24, which would enjoy the presence of Vice President Chiwenga.
According to the Minister, highlights of the Fair include the ZITF Charity Golf Challenge, the ZITF Diplomats Forum, the Connect Africa Symposium, and the Tourism Night on April 25.
“The ZITF Diplomats Forum will be held under the theme 'Fostering Economic Partnerships through Entrepreneurship', while the theme for the Connect Africa Symposium will be 'Entrepreneurial Africa: Routes to Sustainable Progress'. The symposium will be officially opened by Vice President Mohadi,” Dr Muswere elaborated.
The official opening ceremony and the ZNCC Business Luncheon are scheduled for April 26 and opened by His Excellency, the President of the republic of kenya, Dr. William Ruto, followed by public days allowing wider community participation.
The ZITF will also host a two-day Innovators Forum, spotlighting young innovators and entrepreneurs across Africa, and a five-day Scholastica Expo 2024 focused on nurturing entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership among students.
Meanwhile, this year’s ZITF promises not only to be a display of products and services but a testament to Zimbabwe’s thriving entrepreneurial spirit and its crucial role in fostering industrial and trade development.
