Zimbabwe-Brazil bilateral relations continue to strengthen

Government has expressed optimism about the deepening cooperation between Zimbabwe and Brazil.

Speaking during the First Session of the Zimbabwe-Brazil Political Consultation held in Harare yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Fredrick Shava lauded the excellent state of relations between the two countries, highlighting the myriad opportunities for collaboration across various sectors.

"I am pleased that relations between Zimbabwe and Brazil are excellent and that there are endless possibilities for cooperation between the two countries in several areas," remarked Minister Shava during his address at the session.

Acknowledging Brazil's significant contribution to Zimbabwe's agricultural sector, Minister Shava extended gratitude to Brazil for its More Food International Zimbabwe Programme.

“The More Food International Zimbabwe Programme has an impact in bolstering food security at both local and national levels, particularly through the provision of farming equipment to small-scale farmers.

Government of Zimbabwe and its people are sincerely grateful to Brazil for the expression of mutual support," Minister Shava added.

Furthermore, Minister Shava highlighted the expansion of cooperation into key areas, such as cotton production, cattle farming, and pasture management. He underscored the invaluable technical support provided by Brazil through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, which has contributed to enhancing Zimbabwe's agricultural capabilities.

"I am grateful that cooperation between Zimbabwe and Brazil has expanded into technical support for cotton production, cattle farming, and pasture management, areas where Brazil is a global competitor.

I appreciate the knowledge and expertise that your government is providing us through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency. This support is assisting in improving this country’s agricultural sector," stated Minister Shava.

Moreso, Minister Shava reiterated the commitment of Zimbabwe to furthering cooperation with Brazil, emphasizing the importance of leveraging each other's strengths for mutual prosperity.

 

"We look forward to the  continued collaboration with Brazil across various sectors, including but not limited to agriculture, trade, technology transfer, education, and healthcare, for the betterment of our nations.

 By harnessing the collective expertise, resources, and innovation of both Zimbabwe and Brazil, we aim to foster sustainable development, economic growth, and enhanced well-being for our citizens,” added Minister Shava

The partnership between Zimbabwe and Brazil, especially in addressing critical aspects of agricultural development and food security is significant. As both nations intensify their bond, collaborative endeavours are anticipated to generate sustainable benefits for their respective populations.
