Mazowe Central Member of Parliament, Cde Maxmore Njanji, has hailed the impact of the Negomo Irrigation Scheme in Chief Negomo’s area, emphasising the pivotal role the scheme plays in uplifting youths within his constituency.

In an interview with this publication yesterday, Cde Njanji cited significant contributions to food security and employment opportunities being brought by the projects in his area.

“The irrigation scheme is contributing to food security in our area and providing employment to hundreds of people. This project bears testimony to the vision of our President Mnangagwa of having an upper middle-income economy by 2030,” stated Cde Njanji. Cde Njanji highlighted the substantial youth involvement in the scheme, underscoring its role in keeping them engaged in productive activities for the nation.

Cde Njanji further outlined his efforts to support the scheme's beneficiaries, including financial assistance to address outstanding debts and the establishment of additional projects.

One notable initiative is the piggery project, aimed at bolstering economic empowerment among the youth demographic.

“We have done our part in terms of empowering the youth. I donated more than 500 pigs and provided technical assistance for them to kick-start the project. I am continuing to work with them to monitor the project to ensure it continues to be a success,” affirmed Cde Njanji.

The impact of these initiatives is palpable among the beneficiaries, as evidenced by the gratitude expressed by two youths who have directly benefited from the piggery project.

Chipo Moyo, one of the beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating, “Cde Njanji and the ZANU-PF Government have transformed our lives through this piggery project. We are grateful for their unwavering support and commitment to our empowerment.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Tapiwa Nyathi emphasised, “The opportunity provided by Cde Njanji has not only enabled us to improve our livelihoods but has also instilled hope for a brighter future. We thank him and the Government for investing in our potential.”

Meanwhile, alongside these empowerment initiatives, Mazowe Central is witnessing a surge in road rehabilitation projects, signalling a concerted effort to enhance infrastructure development in the region.

This multi-faceted approach underscores the commitment of local leaders to address key socio-economic challenges and foster sustainable growth within the community.
