Citizens have commended Government's commitment to refurbishing the Harare-Chirundu Road.
In different statements to this publication this initiative has garnered widespread applause, from different citizens with many expressing gratitude for what they believe is a long-overdue initiative.
The rehabilitation project, scheduled for completion by July 2025, has been met with enthusiastic support from various sectors of society.
Martin Choto, a Zambian truck driver and cross-border commuter, expressed his relief, stating, "This refurbishment is a lifeline for us. The road was in a dilapidated state, making our journeys challenging. Now, with the rehabilitation, it will not only enhance our daily business but also significantly reduce the frequency of accidents."
Local car importer, Anderson Munemo, echoed the sentiment, "As a car importer transporting vehicles from Tanzania Dar ES Salaam to Zimbabwe, this refurbishment is a welcome development. It streamlines our business operations, making the transportation of goods smoother and more efficient."
Grace Moyo, a resident along the Harare-Chirundu Road, applauded the government's foresight, saying, "We've endured the hardships of a crumbling road for far too long.
This refurbishment is a breath of fresh air, and we are grateful that the government is addressing the infrastructure needs that directly impact our daily lives
Moyo went to express her optimism, saying “The government's commitment to improving our roads is commendable. The completion of this project will not only make our daily commute safer but will also boost our confidence in the administration's dedication to enhancing our living standards."
Notably, this initiative follows the government's successful rehabilitation of the Harare-Beitbridge border post and the ongoing Mbudzi Interface project.
