Zanu PF National Political Commissar, Dr. Mike Bimha strongly criticized Nelson Chamisa for his decision to leave the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
This was said at a Campaign Star Rally meant to drum up support for the Zanu PF Candidate in the upcoming by-elections at Pfupajena Stadium in Chegutu today.
During his address, Dr. Bimha expressed his disapproval, labeling Chamisa's departure as an act of weakness. He emphasized that a true leader does not abandon his followers even if faced with rebellion or dissent within the ranks. Drawing parallels, he cited the example of Jesus persevering alone in prayer at the Gethsemane garden when some of his disciples had rejected him.
Taking a direct swipe at Chamisa, Dr. Bimha questioned where the CCC members would go after their leader had deserted them. He emphasized the importance of leaders setting positive examples and doing what is right for their people.
Dr. Bimha went on to criticize the CCC for its lack of organizational structure, attributing the chaos in the party to this deficiency. Speculations about Chamisa forming a new party were addressed by Dr. Bimha, who dismissed the idea, asserting that creating a new party wouldn't address the disorganization within the CCC.
He called for Chamisa to focus on establishing strong structures and exhibit selflessness, accusing him of being an autocratic leader lacking direction and order. Dr. Bimha urged Zanu PF members to prioritize unity and avoid emulating Chamisa's actions.
Meanwhile, Chamisa announced on 25 January 2024 that he was leaving politics after losing control of the party to party interim secretary general, Sengezo Tshabangu. Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere, yesterday downplayed Chamisa's resignation, deeming it a non-event. Minister Muswere attributed the internal strife within the CCC to infighting, contradictions, dictatorship, puppetry, and leadership deficiencies inherited from various MDC formations.
