CCC’s Lackluster campaigning raises concerns in Chitungwiza Ward 12

Concerns arise over the seemingly lackadaisical campaigning efforts of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), in Ward 12 ahead of the 3rd of February upcoming By-Elections.

In an exclusive interview with a source, the CCC’s campaign has been notably tepid, with minimal activities observed on the ground.

The source revealed that CCC’s campaign has primarily been limited to putting up posters, lacking the vigor typically associated with election campaigns. The absence of official door-to-door campaigns and rallies has left observers questioning the opposition’s commitment to engaging with the electorate.

Expressing disappointment the source stated, , “So far, we’ve only seen a few posters. There hasn’t been any substantial campaigning effort—no door-to-door visits, no rallies. It’s quite perplexing, considering the significance of these by-elections.”

Moreover, the source shed light on internal dynamics within the CCC, suggesting a sense of insecurity among its members.

“CCC members are already criticizing the Government initiatives led by Zanu PF, accusing them of attempting to buy votes. It appears that the CCC is feeling threatened by Zanu PF’s robust engagement with the electorate,” the source asserted.

Notably, the source emphasized a peculiar aspect of CCC’s campaign strategy, particularly related to candidate Tafadzwa Musona. “Musona’s posters are dominated by Nelson Chamisa’s face, the former opposition leader, rather than showcasing the candidate himself.

“This strategy seems geared towards leveraging the CCC brand rather than highlighting Musona’s individual contributions to the community,” the source revealed.

Critics argue that such a reliance on the CCC brand, coupled with the apparent lack of ground-level activities, raises questions about the opposition’s commitment to deliver tangible results to the people of Ward 12. As the by-election date approaches, constituents remain eager for substantive engagement and proposals from the CCC.

The source further added , “The CCC’s approach seems disjointed. There’s minimal visibility on the ground, and the reliance on the party brand over candidate-driven campaigns might not resonate well with the electorate. It’s a concerning trend as we approach the polls.”

Moreover, in a highly contested electoral environment, the success of any political campaign hinges on effective grassroots engagement and a clear articulation of the candidate’s agenda. As CCC navigates the final stretch leading to the by-elections, the spotlight remains on their ability to address these concerns and present a compelling vision for Chitungwiza Ward 12.
