The Farmers for Economic Development (Farmers4ED) has been recognized for its unwavering patriotism and commitment to upholding the legacy of Zimbabwe's Second Republic.
The group's significant contributions to the agricultural sector have earned it a nomination for the prestigious Perence Shiri Hurudza Legacy Award at the upcoming Legacy Empowerment Awards 2023, set to take place on December 2, 2023.
This commendable acknowledgment follows Farmers4ED's recent pledge of support to ZANU PF, aligning with its nomination for an excellence award by Legacy TV.
Legacy TV is renowned for its role in bolstering Government efforts towards realizing Vision 2030, and this nomination highlights Farmers4ED's alignment with these national objectives.
Tapiwa Chitate, the National Chairman of Farmers4ED, expressed joy and pride upon receiving this recognition.
"It's an honour to be acknowledged for our dedication to enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring food self-sufficiency in Zimbabwe," Chitate remarked.
Chitate further emphasized Farmers4ED's resolve to support President Mnangagwa's vision and safeguard his legacy from opposition and economic adversities.
Chitate highlighted the remarkable advancements in agriculture under President Mnangagwa's leadership, citing successes in wheat surplus, cattle artificial insemination programs, and the construction of dams to augment irrigation infrastructure.
"These achievements are a testament to President Mnangagwa's visionary and pragmatic leadership," he added.
Pardon Mangwende, the Executive Director of Legacy TV, praised Farmers4ED for its efforts in rural industrialization and mobilizing farmers' support for ZANU PF and Governmental policies, particularly the Rural Development 8.0 program.
"The nomination for Farmers4ED honours the exemplary life and contributions of the late Agriculture Minister Cde Perence Shiri, a staunch advocate for food security through initiatives like Pfumvudza/Intwasa and Command Agriculture," Mangwende explained.
Mangwende also noted that recognizing patriots aligns with the Second Republic's ethos of acknowledging individuals who significantly contribute to national development, aiming to establish an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
Meanwhile, the Farmers4ED demonstrated its commitment to the country’s development by engaging youths in Bulawayo and unpacking the Rural Development 8.0 program. The organization has been instrumental in promoting various projects, including fisheries, borehole drilling, nutritional gardens, and the Presidential Livestock and Rural Poultry Schemes, advocating for ZANU PF's initiatives and policies.
