Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members in Binga are contemplating staging demonstrations against that party's Matabeleland North interim provincial chairperson, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, for interfering with the candidate selection process.

A source who confided in this publication said that Sibanda used his influence as interim provincial chairperson to impose one Chumazala in Binga South Constituency against people’s wishes.

"CCC members in Binga are not happy with the conduct of Sibanda during the candidate selection process that happened in Binga, and they are planning to stage demonstrations against him. Members want to use the demonstrations to draw the attention of Nelson Chamisa so that he will dethrone Sibanda as the provincial interim chairperson. The same members are accusing Sibanda of imposing one Chumazala in the Binga South constituency. The people in Binga South wanted Joel Gabuza to be their candidate," revealed the source.

Additionally, the same source said that Sibanda was also being accused of disrupting the Mugwazo mobilisation programme by failing to recognise the leadership of the village and ward champions in Binga.

"The Mugwazo programme in Binga is in jeopardy as Sibanda is failing to recognise the leadership of the wards and village champions. This has caused the mobilisation programme to flop in Binga," added the source.

According to the source, CCC members in Binga scheduled a meeting with Chamisa to express their disappointment with Sibanda.

"The members in Binga have already scheduled a meeting with Chamisa, and this meeting is likely to be held today in Harare. Members want Chamisa to reprimand Sibanda and to give a directive that the candidate selection process in Binga constituencies should be started afresh," said the source.

Meanwhile, Sibanda was also being accused of working in cahoots with CCC interim organisation secretary Amos Chibaya to demand bribes from aspiring candidates in Matabeleland North Province so that they could win the nomination process.
