….as Biti accuses Mahere of destroying the party

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) co-vice president, Tendai Biti has accused that party’s interim national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, of working with Nelson Chamisa to cut short political careers of some party bigwigs.
Whatsapp chats between Biti and Mahere gleaned by this publication revealed deep rooted factionalism within CCC.
In the chats, Biti accused Mahere and her faction of hijacking CCC while relegating seasoned members to the peripheries of that party.
“Let me tell you Fadzi (Mahere) with due respect, kwamurikuenda nechinhu ichi yourself, Ostallos (Gift Siziba) and Amos (Chibaya) musazochema nesu mangwana. I have tried my level best to bring my advice to Champion Chamisa’s ears but to no avail. Chiiitai tione,” read the chats.
Biti further accused Mahere and her faction of unjustifiably pitting him against Harare North legislator, Allan Markham, during the candidate selection process in Harare East constituency.
However, Mahere told Biti that he was now a spent force and should not blame anyone for his waning political fortunes.
“No Hon (Biti), pedzeranai ikoko na Markham ikoko ku Harare East. You never saw me there or Advocate Chamisa during nominations. That’s your issue with the people. My duty is to announce zvabuda from a transparent citizen process not to please you.Your faction bit the dust and that’s it,” Mahere said.
Mahere added that Biti should go ahead and form his own party if he was aggrieved by the candidate selection process.
“My relationship with Advocate Chamisa is between us and where do you come in? Form your own party and win,” fumed Mahere
With only 84 days left before elections, CCC is riddled with factional fights that are threatening to destroy that party. Even the candidate selection process that commenced in April is yet to be finalized as there are allegations of massive interference with the process from Chamisa and his allies.
