CCC mobilisation exercise flops in Mbare

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Mugwazo mobilisation exercise dismally flopped in Mbare last weekend after residents shunned the meeting.

A source who spoke to this publication said that CCC had planned to hold Mugwazo mobilisation exercise in Mbare but had to abandon it due to low attendance.

“The Mugwazo programme that was supposed to be held in Mbare last Saturday was abandoned after members failed to turn up for the meeting. The street champions who had been tasked to mobilise people failed to carry out the task. The meeting had to be abandoned at the last hour due to low attendance,” said the source.

The source added that the Mugwazo meeting flopped because the person who was scheduled to address the meeting was not liked in Mbare.

“The meeting flopped because Ireen Kademaunga who was supposed to address the meeting is not liked in Mbare. Mbare residents view Kademaunga as a pompous person who looks down on the residents of Mbare. If it was another person who was to address the meeting, many people could have attended,” added the source.

The same source added that the CCC leadership was becoming more anxious with the continuous flop of the Mugwazo programmes in urban areas.

“The bosses are becoming increasingly worried by the continuous flop of the Mugwazo programmes, especially in the urban areas. Of late, people have been shunning these Mugwazo programmes because of factionalism within the party. Members are only attending these mobilisation exercises if they were being addressed by a member of their faction,” added the source.

Meanwhile, CCC was reportedly having difficulties in finding venues to conduct Mugwazo mobilisation programmes in Mashonaland Central Province as that party’s support base in the Province had waned. It is again reported that CCC was failing to mobilise enough candidates to field in the country’s 210 constituencies and was now asking university students to consider representing it in some constituencies.
