Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) has reportedly rejected a campaign song composed by one Pastor Tafireyi saying that they had enough campaign songs from Paul Madzore.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Pastor Tafireyi (whose church could not be established) composed and recorded a campaign song for CCC and presented it to that party’s interim organizing secretary, Amos Chibaya who rejected the song.
“Pastor Tafireyi recorded a song for CCC and presented it to Chibaya for consideration. The song gave praise to Nelson Chamisa and the entire party. However, after listening to the song, Chibaya rejected it saying that Paul Madzore had recorded enough songs for CCC campaigns,” said the source.
According to the source, Chibaya accused Pastor Tafireyi of composing the campaign song so as to get money from CCC.
“Chibaya accused Pastor Tafireyi of wanting to take advantage of the impending elections so that he could get into the CCC coffers by composing a campaign song. According to Chibaya, Pastor Tafireyi was not a genuine CCC sympathizer as he was also seen hobnobbing with some ZANU PF members,” added the source.
The source added that Chibaya told Pastor Tafireyi that his party had already planned its campaign strategy that excluded the involvement of the clergymen and the church.
Political analyst, Terrence Chipwanya said that it was ironic that at a time the ruling ZANU PF was embracing the Church; CCC was busy snubbing assistance from same.
“It’s ironic that CCC wants to get into power but is busy snubbing political assistance from clergymen at a time ZANU PF had created good working relations with the Church. Do you think that Pastor Tafireyi would urge his congregants to vote for a party that doesn’t recognize the Church?” said Chipwanya.
Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa recently said that the partnership and synergy between the State and Church was inseparable and dates back to the days of the country’s protracted armed liberation struggle.
