The Independence Day Celebrations have left Mt Darwin a massively transformed town centre following a myriad of face lift developments done by Government ahead of the Uhuru Day. Residents who spoke to this publication said that they appreciated the Second Republic’s decision to host the 43rd Independence Day Celebrations in Mt Darwin.

“Our town has changed because of the Independence Day Celebrations. We now have traffic lights and our roads have been rehabilitated. The hospital road was resurfaced and widened. We thank the Government for its decision to host the main Independence Day Celebrations in our area,” said Paul Mafuta.

Philip Chakaoma thanked the Government for constructing a state of the art stadium in Mt Darwin and said that the stadium would always remind people of how they were honoured to host the 43rd Independence Day celebrations.

“We benefited a state of the art stadium. In Mt Darwin, we only had one stadium, Pfura stadium, but we now have Mt Darwin stadium. It was a development that we had never dreamt of here in Mt Darwin. We thank the President for such a huge development,” said Chakaoma.

Eneresi Chakanyuka was happy with the maintenance and repairs that took place at Mt Darwin primary and secondary schools.

“The two schools’ infrastructures are now a marvel to see. The classroom blocks have been repainted and new toilets were constructed. If we had not hosted the Independence Day celebrations in our town, these developments might not have taken place,” said Chakanyuka.

Meanwhile, vendors in Mt Darwin experienced a boost in their business sales as they utilise the event to sell their wares. Otillia Chabayanzara said that she got a profit of more than US500.00 from her sales of Dynamos and Highlanders branded jerseys.
