Government has implemented a total of 6 869 projects across the country with 4 984 of them completed since 2018.
In a Post Cabinet briefing yesterday, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa said that the highest number of completed projects were under infrastructure.
“The nation is being advised that a total of 6 869 projects were implemented across the country’s ten provinces, 4 984 of which were completed. The highest number of completed projects were under infrastructure, with 1 866 which constitutes 37.4% of the projects,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
The Minister added that in Bulawayo Province, 163 projects were completed with 67 of them soon to be completed. She said that among the completed projects were a new plant at Treger Group (Kango), a soft drink plant at Arenel (Pvt) Ltd; installation of digital TV transmission installed at ZBC’s Montrose studio and 10 Community Information Centres, among other projects.
In Harare, Minister Mutsvangwa said 121 projects were completed with 146 soon to be completed. The completed projects include a Youth Interact Centre which was established in Mufakose; the rehabilitation of 22.4 kilometres of road, establishment of e-passport offices and 30 Community Information Centres, among other projects.
Minister Mutsvangwa said that Matabeleland South Province had 800 projects, with 523 completed and 277 soon to be completed. Projects completed to date include the launch of the Ntepe-Manama Community Radio Station; rolling out of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project in Schools as well as the establishment of the Mopani Worm Processing Plant, among other many projects.
The Minister further informed that Midlands Province had 1 083 projects, with 791 completed and 292 soon to be completed. The completed projects include the construction of the RZM Murowa 500TPH Greenfields Diamond Plant; Renewal of the Gweru FM Transmitter; and 535 women were funded under the Women Development Fund.
All other Provinces had various projects completed with the Minister informing that the Second Republic is keen on implementing life changing programmes in various communities.
