Self-exiled former Cabinet minister and political analyst, Professor Jonathan Moyo has described Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party as a confused political outfit that is not ready for this year’s plebiscite.
Writing on his Twitter page yesterday, Prof Moyo said that it was confusing that CCC was celebrating its one year of existence without solid structures, ideology and constitution.
“So, exactly after 12 months; and 6 months before the 2023 election is due, the summary is that CCC was "formed" on 24 January 2022, but is yet to be "launched”. Meanwhile it still has no values, no ideology, no constitution, no structures and no policies,” said Prof Moyo.
Professor Moyo added that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa was giving mixed signals to his supporters because at one time he threatens to boycott elections only to make a summersault and claim that he was ready for the polls.
Professor Moyo said that it was more confusing and illogical for a political party that is yet to be ‘officially launched’ to give pre-electoral demands and also claim to be ready to contest in the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the highly anticipated CCC inaugural meeting might suffer a still birth as there are no funds to sponsor the event.
A source who spoke to this publication said that CCC’s traditional sponsors have pulled out citing continued factional fights within that party. According to the source, CCC’s coffers are currently empty and that party has since reached out to its diaspora community to assist with funding.
Efforts to get a comment form CCC interim national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
