Zimdancehall artist, Tulani Taurai Takavada professionally known as Ricky Fire has cut ties with Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) citing unfulfilled promises and lack of political direction from that Party’s leadership.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Ricky Fire was angered by CCC after it failed to pay him for performing at that party’s rallies.
“Ricky Fire has dumped CCC. He is owed lots of money after performing at several CCC rallies last year. Efforts to recover his money were futile as Amos Chibaya (CCC interim organising secretary) who was supposed to pay him his dues has blocked him on his mobile phones. This has angered Ricky Fire hence his decision to cut ties with CCC,” said the source.
According to the source, CCC owes Ricky Fire over US$10 000 and that party was not making efforts to settle the debt.
The source added that Ricky Fire was further irked by CCC failure to honour its promise to buy him a vehicle for use in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
“Ricky Fire is angry because CCC failed to honour its promise to give him a vehicle for use in the forthcoming elections. In February last year, CCC promised Ricky Fire that they would give him a vehicle before December 2022. However, Chibaya told Ricky Fire that CCC was facing financial problems hence they could not honour their promise to purchase a vehicle for him,” said the source.
The source added that Ricky Fire was considering making a public apology for siding with CCC as he wants to regain the trust of his fans who were castigating him for engaging in political activities.
Efforts to get a comment from Ricky Fire were futile as his mobile phones were not reachable.
