….as Sikhala refuses to meet Chamisa

There was drama at Chikurubi Maximum Prison yesterday when jailed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim deputy national chairperson, Job Sikhala refused to meet Nelson Chamisa who had come to visit him and other jailed CCC activists.
Chamisa had to endure a three hour wait at the Prison expecting to see Sikhala but the Zengeza West legislator was adamant that he was not in the mood of seeing Chamisa.
A source who spoke to this publication said that persuasions by prison officers for Sikhala to briefly interact with Chamisa failed to yield results as Sikhala refused to come out of his cell.
“Chamisa went to visit Sikhala yesterday but Sikhala refused to come out from his cell to meet his party leader. Sikhala was arguing that he has been in prison for some time now and Chamisa failed to visit him or push for his release. Prison officers tried to persuade Sikhala to just briefly interact with Chamisa but Wiwa refused,” said the source.
The source said that the assertion by Chamisa that he was denied access to Sikhala was fabricated lies meant to tarnish the prison authorities and Government.
“Chamisa was not denied access to Sikhala, but it was Sikhala who refused to meet him. Chamisa wrote to the prison authorities asking for permission to visit jailed CCC activists and the permission was granted. So this claim by CCC that Chamisa was barred from seeing Sikhala and other jailed CCC activists is just cheap propaganda,” said the source.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the relationship between Chamisa and Sikhala has greatly deteriorated as the latter was accused of failing to use his political influence to cause the release of Sikhala from jail. Chamisa is also being accused of silently celebrating Sikhala’s incarceration as he fears that if he is released, he might wrestle the party presidency from him.
