Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim deputy spokesperson, Gift ‘Ostallos’ Siziba, has denounced the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by United States (US) and called for their immediate and unconditional removal.
Speaking soon after his arrival from US, Siziba acknowledged that the illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe were hampering progress of the country. He also lambasted the late MDC –T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai’s school of thought saying his call for sanctions was irrational and uninformed.
“It is a fact that sanctions are adversely hampering our country’s development since we cannot trade internationally. Calling for sanctions by the late Morgan Tsvangirayi and MDC was a rush and an uninformed decision which was executed without an in-depth analysis. As CCC, we have divorced ourselves from the ways of Morgan Tsvangirayi and MDC. We are now calling for the removal of these sanctions. In fact as a party, we are engaged in a dialogue with the relevant stakeholders so as to mobilise our supporters to turn up for an anti-sanctions march on the 25th October 2022,” said Siziba.
Siziba further paid tribute to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” saying it is a guiding and motivating principle that encourages Zimbabweans to work for the betterment of Zimbabwe.
“Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” mantra is a good initiative by the President of Zimbabwe. As CCC, we admire and we will support such good initiatives by the Government. We also pay special recognition to the Chinese in particular, for maintaining a win-win relationship and unwavering support for Zimbabwe,” he added.
Ostallos, however, sweated to give a satisfactory response as to whether Chamisa would also divorce his CCC party from the US. He chose to identify US and its allies as potential investor markets.
“Our relationship with the US and allies is tricky because apart from them giving us friendly advice, we also view the Western countries as potential investors to Zimbabwe,” he said.
Of late, CCC has shown signs of appreciation of Government’s initiatives. At the funeral of the late Alex Magaisa, Chamisa paid tribute to the sacrifice made by the liberation war veterans to liberate Zimbabwe. In the same speech, Chamisa also commended the education system set in place by Zimbabwe Government calling it an ‘oasis of African intellects’.
