Zimbabweans have ridiculed the MDC-T’s national chairperson, Morgan Komichi for suggesting that opposition parties should be confrontational when dealing with the Government.
Speaking on Alpha Media Holdings’ Heart and Soul television (HStv)’s current affairs programme at the weekend, Komichi said the Government simply needed confrontation and the opposition should just stand up and demand what the government should do.
However, citizens scoffed at Komichi and urged him to focus on reviving his waning political fortunes instead of talking of confrontational politics.
“It’s scary that at a time President Mnangagwa is preaching about peace and tolerance, we have failed politicians like Komichi who are urging people to be confrontational when dealing with the Government. Currently, Komichi is politically irrelevant and should desist from inciting citizens to practise violent politics,” said one George Chakabva of Mabvuku.
Another citizen, Edith Ngwerume of Sunningdale said that confrontational politics was out-dated and added that Komichi should join seasoned politicians such as President Mnangagwa in calling for peace.
“Only those living in the Stone Age era should advocate for politics of intolerance and confrontation. However, in Zimbabwe we are civilised and educated hence our politics must be of tolerance, peace and harmony. I urge Komichi to grow up and desist from this habit of making inflammatory statements just to satisfy his political ego,” said Ngwerume.
Taurai Mahachi of Mbare added that Komichi’s remarks are in contradiction to those of his boss, Douglass Mwonzora who believes that dialogue is the key to solving political stalemates.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Komichi’s political life is hanging by a thread as the majority of MDC-T members are plotting to dump him at that party’s elective congress slated for later this year.
Komichi is believed to be a political turncoat who cannot be entrusted with any national leadership position for a party like MDC-T, hence the decision to throw him into the political dustbin.
