The 112th edition of the Zimbabwe Agriculture Show (ZAS) has kicked off in Harare, after a two year Covid19 induced sabbatical. There are 600 exhibitors showcasing their products at this year’s Agricultural Show. These include among others the Automotive Agricultural Implements Suppliers, Mining and Insurance companies.
Mr Thomas Chipfiko of the Chipfiko syndicate, a gold mining firm from Makaha Mutoko which was yet to register for the exhibition, expressed optimism that their organisation would be able to register and exhibit at the ZAS for the first time.
“We are late comers at the exhibition. Initially we were sceptical about the event due to the lockdown restrictions set by Government because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our advance team which came to assess the situation over the weekend gave us a positive feed-back and we just could not resist,” said Chipfiko.
Mr Xilong Lee, an investor from China was at the ZAS scouting for local companies to partner with in Lithium mining. He expressed optimism that he will be able to kick start negotiations with local miners before the end of the ZAS.
“We are in Zimbabwe scouting for business partnerships with local Lithium Mines. Our Chinese embassy advised us that Zimbabwe Agricultural Show would be a better place to start because Miners also come here to exhibit. For now we just got here and we are still looking around before we can engage the companies we will have identified,” said Xilong Lee.
ZAS is an annual event that various players and stakeholders take advantage of to show case their products. This year’s event is being held under the theme “Unequalled Business Opportunities: Accessibility, Accountability and Abundance.”
ZAS also offers unique business and networking opportunities through exhibitions and conferences.
There are several entertainment events lined-up at ZAS which include drum majorettes, parachute displays and fireworks which are scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF).
